The name; Headland, celebrates these landscapes on the border between earth and water and highlights that whether you are after cliffs, hills, grass, snow, rock, calm water or a roaring sea, the west coast of Scotland has endless opportunities for adventures, great or small.
As an outdoor professional and enthusiast I (Josef) am fascinated by the natural landscape of the west coast of Scotland, and in particular the areas right where the land meets the sea. Throw in some nice atlantic waves and high cliffs and I'm in heaven!
Headland Explorations is an outdoor activity and education provider with a social aim started in 2018 on the Isle of Mull.
Headland Explorations has a strong social purpose, and our aim is to be a social enterprise. We intend for any profit generated to be reinvested in the business and used to provide fun, educational and inspirational opportunities in the outdoor environment for children and young people on Mull and Iona. By participating in Headland activities, you're not only creating memories for yourself, but also enabling others to gain valuable experiences.
Headland Explorations would like to extend a massive thanks to the Waterfall fund for believing in this business and assisting with its start up costs.
I moved to Scotland, from Sweden, in 2010. I immediately fell in love with the country in general and the islands in particular.
I am a qualified Mountain Leader and Climbing Instructor (the Mountain Leader Award and Rock Climbing Instructor Award, are nationally recognised qualifications awarded through the Mountain Training Association) and am working towards higher qualifications in mountaineering, sea kayaking and mountain biking.
I have over 10 years experience of working with people, including young people and people with disabilities, on the hills, on the cliffs and in the garden.
I also have a degree in Human Rights and History, from Lund University in Sweden.
